Does your kid's marriage change your estate plan? Most parents think about the wedding check. Few think about what happens to the assets they've already built once their child is legally married. If you gift money, help with a down payment, or leave assets through your estate, and those assets are not structured correctly, they can become marital property. That means if things don't work out down the road, a portion of what you worked decades to build walks out the door with someone else. This is an estate plan and titling conversation. Very different than a prenup conversation. And one you actually control. The wedding is the event. The marriage is the life event. And every major life event is a reason to open your financial plan and make sure it still reflects what you actually want.
