Arguing about money? Here are 3 questions to start the discussion with your spouse.
Why do couples argue about money? It's usually because they're making financial decisions from two completely different playbooks. And often because one spouse tracks every account, every dollar saved, every dollar spent. And the other knows there's a plan somewhere and figures it's fine. Nobody's wrong here. But "fine" isn't the same as "on the same page." Without one coordinated plan, it's easy to end up pulling in different directions without realizing it. And that creates tension that can lead to bigger problems down the road. Here’s a starting point of questions to ask each other if you need to reset and get on the same path. 🔷Do we know what we own, all of it, between both of us? 🔷Do we agree on what retirement actually looks like, or have we just never said it out loud? 🔷If something happened to one of us tomorrow, would the other one know what to do? 🔷Are we working from one plan, or two plans that happen to live in the same house? If you can answer "yes" to those questions, you're in good shape. If you’re not sure, make time to sit down and start the conversation sooner rather than later. You don’t want to wait until a financially hard time to call this out. #FinancialPlanning #MarriageAndMoney #RetirementPlanning
